🇭🇺 What Is Zöldborsóleves?
Zöldborsóleves literally means “green pea soup” in Hungarian.

Small dumplings, noodles, or rice can also be added to make the soup more filling.

For the Soup
- 2 cups (300 g) green peas, fresh or frozen
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small parsley root or parsnip, sliced
- 1 small piece celery root, diced
- 1–2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1½ cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
- ¼ cup uncooked white rice
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or lard
- 1 teaspoon Hungarian sweet paprika
- 8 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
