
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: Mix the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Make the dough: Combine flour and salt. Add butter, sour cream, egg, yeast mixture, and half of the grated cheese. Knead until a soft, smooth dough forms.
- Let it rise: Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Shape: Roll the dough out about ½ inch thick. Cut into small rounds or shape into traditional pogácsa. Place on a lined baking sheet.
- Top: Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with the remaining grated cheese and caraway seeds.
- Bake: Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 18–22 minutes, until golden brown.
- Serve: Let cool slightly and enjoy warm or at room temperature.
