
Instructions
Step 1 – Prepare the Dough
Mix the flour and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the sour cream, egg yolk, and vanilla, then knead until a smooth dough forms. Wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Step 2 – Prepare the Filling
Combine the walnuts, sugar, vanilla, lemon zest, and warm milk. Stir until a thick, spreadable filling forms.
Step 3 – Shape the Kifli
Roll the chilled dough to about 3 mm (⅛ inch) thick. Cut into small triangles. Place a spoonful of filling on the wide end of each triangle and roll toward the tip, forming crescents.
Step 4 – Bake
Arrange on a parchment-lined baking tray and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 18–20 minutes, until lightly golden.
Step 5 – Coat with Sugar
While still warm, generously dust or roll the pastries in powdered sugar until completely coated.
